Using a sharp knife, gently slice pita bread in half so that you have two complete circles.
Pour pizza sauce on each half as desired, place desired toppings on each half, and bake at 375 degrees for 7 minutes.
Overall, it takes about 12 minutes to make. It’s fast and cheap, just buy off-brand toppings and pizza. The items you buy will last at least five pizzas, unless you have a huge appetite.
I know that as a college kid food insecurity is a huge deal. We all know what is like to look in the fridge and see that there isn't there, look and see that it's either pay your rent or eat for the next few weeks. This is something that is quick and cheap that I know I love as a college student. We all love pizza, its very expensive to buy all the time though, so this is cost effective. With having food that is more cost effective we can make sure that we do not have to worry about food insecurity as a college student. We are at the end of our growing years and we want to make sure that we get all the nutrition that we need.
Something we as college students forget is OFF BRAND, I know name brands are a huge thing. We grew up on name brand loyalty. Believe me, it wasn't until I came to college that I realized other Mac and Cheese besides Kraft was good. If you buy off brand toppings and sauce for your pita pizzas this will save you a lot of money in the long run, and these off brand products taste just as good as the brand names you love! We don't need the name brands to get nutrients, the off brand products have just the same amounts so they are not any worse for you. Also I am sure we all know name brand grocery stores and we think that this is the best place for us to go. There are smaller grocery stores in the Kalamazoo area, such as D&W where we can go to get cheaper good quality food. I think that this is something that Americans don't realize how much name brand loyalty they create. I know that D&W exists because I went there with a sorority sister and was shocked at how great it was. I had never heard of it until she took me there.
