Time and time again we hear of students not having time to make a healthy meal or the money to buy the healthy food…. So what do we do? We eat junk food. Although, most college students are in shape and not considered to be obese/overweight does not mean they all eat healthy food. Some students are just blessed with a kick ass metabolism which is great! However, if you are in need of a healthy snack you need to make some Granola clumps. These are not only easy to make, but they are good for you too. Ingredients
½ cup chocolate chips
1 cup granola
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup honey
½ cup peanut butter Directions
This recipe is pretty easy all you do is combine all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix them up. Then you clump the mixture into small balls (a cookie scoop works good for this) and put them on a pan/tray. Next, you place them in the refrigerator until they harden so that they are firmly staying together. Finally, take them out of the fridge and enjoy these delicious clumps of goodness (as I call them). Variants to the recipe
To make this recipe even healthier you can substitute raisins for chocolate chips, and dry oatmeal for granola. Also, you can add sunflower seeds or flax seed as well and just stir it all up. Why chose to eat healthy.
As I student I never realized how important it was for me to eat healthy. I noticed that when I ate at some fast food place or any other easy access to food place I wouldn't feel well. No I don’t specifically mean stomach ache I mean feeling sluggish or tired. Almost, every time I took a short cut and ate fast food I felt super tired soon after I ate the food. We have been so adjusted to eat for cheaper and more convenient yet, most of that food although it is easily accessible isn't good for us. What can we do? We can encourage places who serve fast food to come up with more healthy meal options that are also not expensive or we can make our food like this easy recipe of granola clumps.
Rating: After the class tried this recipe I made, I asked them to fill out a comment card. I was so pleased with the ratings I received. Students gave me mostly 5 out of 5. The only 4's I got was because it was too peanut buttery and too sweet. Overall, I got comments like "These were delicious, so yummy!, and really good". Thanks for all the feedback! Hope you can make this treat for others to enjoy like I did for you!
